Abstract :
Based on the video grid of two level architecture, this paper proposes to use some client computers with high performance as temporary video servers so as to relieve the payload of the local video server, and to expand the original video grid of two level architecture into that of scalable multilevel architecture as the data stream of a local video server reaches the threshold. A detailed discussion is made about the design and process pattern of this expanded video grid and the strategies of service transfer from one server to another when a temporary video server fails. The simulation results produced by VGSim suggest that the service capacity of the video grid of scalable multilevel architecture based on data stream control has been efficiently improved than that of the video grid of two-level architecture.
