  • Abstract
    Free-space optical communications for inter-satellite links and deep space missions offer significant advantages in comparison to alternate microwave systems. The advantages include: high speed; high bandwidth; small antenna size; narrow field of view; and narrow antenna beam. Simultaneously, the complexity of space communications systems is growing rapidly with the increase in transmission requirements. Most important technology is optical antenna in this communication system. This paper proposes a novel smart antenna for inter-satellites laser communication. The different performances including antenna gain and pattern of optical antenna and smart antenna in inter-satellites laser communication system are given in this paper. The analyse results show that smart antenna is better than optical antenna in this communication system.
