Abstract
In this paper, a new technique is presented combining wideband channel modelling techniques with the latest computer graphic functionality, which enables interactive channel simulation and dynamic coverage estimation for system design and development. This technique is currently developed with focus on baseband Ultra Wideband (UWB) systems operating above 3.1GHz. The channel model generated by this technique eliminates the need for two simplifying assumptions in the IEEE802.15.3a model, thus creating a more accurate depiction of the channel than the purely statistical approach. By employing very simple 3D models and structures, the cluster centres are found without assuming a delay-invariant arrival rate or a constant relative variance for fading. The delay profile is generated using a new progressive tracing algorithm that eliminates full traces of the less likely paths. Texture-based reflection and refraction patterns are other advantages of this approach.
