Abstract :
With the development of network applications, network devices need more intelligent processing capability. network processors (NPs) emerge timely and are widely used in network domains to meet these requirements. Because of the complexity of NP, there are many challenges for design of NP. In this paper, a system design methodology is studied, and based on SystemC. a platform used to model network processor architecture is constructed. This platform is composed of an extensible heterogeneous resource library and an architecture constructor. The former provides user some common resource model. The latter can automatically generate model instance from a configuration table provided by designers. This modeling methodology and platform is general which could be used to construct various network processor architecture models in short time.
