Abstract
Orthogonal space-time block codes (OSTBCs) is an attractive technique of 3G and 4G in wireless communication, which can achieve a full rate with more than two transmit antennas at the expense of losing some degree of diversity and increasing the decoding complexity. One simple method for improving the array gain and adapting OSTBCs to any number of transmit antennas is antenna selection, where the OSTBC is transmitted on a subset of the transmit antennas. In the paper, we present OSTBCs with reduced-complexity antenna selection and analyze its symbol-error rate (SER) performance. Finally we present numerical examples and simulation results. It shows that considerable improvement in average SER is achieved and the cost and complexity is decreased.
