Abstract
It is well known that conventional microstrip antennas have drawback of narrow bandwidth. In this paper, we propose a novel WiMAX patch antenna in crisscross shape operating at 3.5GHz. To design a broad band antenna, a shorting pin is embedded in each arm of the crisscross and two triangles are cut out from the end of each arm. The shorting pin also helps the reduction of resonant frequency. The measured return loss of this antenna is less than -15dB when the operation frequency band is in the range of 3.4GHz to 3.6GHz. Further details for the design of the antenna and the experimental results are presented in the paper. Especially, the simulation has been made to investigate the effects of the position of the shorting pins and the triangles to the performance of the patch antenna.
