Abstract :
This paper presents an efficient algorithm, named Relative Quadrant-Based (RQ), to implement multiple multicast communications in wormhole-switched mesh/torus networks. Based on concept of relative quadrants, RQ can achieve high degree of parallelism by dividing the network into several blocks and sending message copies concurrently in each block. We also studied how to decrease the increasing contentions caused by improving parallel operations. By applying adaptive unicast algorithm, RQ can decrease the delay of channel contention. By organizing the multicast trees carefully, RQ algorithm with NR (Nearest-node Rooted) strategy can decrease the delay of node contention. Simulation results indicated that RQ-NR can achieve low average delay.
