  • Abstract
The exploration and development of coalbed methane (CBM) is favorable not only to the complementarity of conventional natural gas, but to the reduction of gas disaster. At the meanwhile, it brings a series of problems of ecological environment because of unsuitable exploitation activity. The main ecological environment problems are systematically discussed in this paper based on the effects of the development of CBM on water resource, on atmosphere, on vegetation, on infield, and on habitation. Some corresponding environmental protection countermeasures are put forward. Before the exploration and development of CBM, the effect on environment should be appraised, and the development field of CBM should be availably layout. During the process of the exploration and development of CBM, supervision should be strengthened and the environmental protection measures should be put into effect. After the completion of CBM well, land reclamation should be put up in time that is propitious to the environmental protection of developed field.
