Abstract
Foci of this paper are spatial distribution and evolvement of middle or low income families living in urban affordable housing. Base on geographic information system (GIS) this paper presents (1) a methodology using kernel density estimation to study the area of middle or low income families living in affordable housing. (2)Under the calculate result of kernel density estimation make spatial distribution analysis, (3) spatial pattern evolvement analysis and (4) comparison of market housing by using isoline map of market housing price. The use of this methodology will be illustrated using the affordable housing of Wuhan in China and affordable housing data collected from 1995 to 2008.
