Abstract
PM10 (Particle Matter 10) is the major air pollutants. In this paper, the monitoring of PM10 from MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) data was applied at Pearl River Delta, China. The method was as follow: 1) By DDV (dark dense vegetation) algorithm, the AOD (aerosol optical depth) was retrieved; 2) The PM10 was worked out from AOD. Using .NET multi-layer architecture, combined with MatlabCOM, ArcEngine and other components, we establish a PM10 Remote Sensing Monitoring System. After validated by ground-based measurements, it is shown that MODIS can monitor the spatial structure of PM10.
