Abstract
This paper mainly studies the growth and degradation characteristics of the atrazine degradation strain J2 isolated from the soil collected from the cornfield in northern China with a long history of atrazine application. The growth and the degradation characteristics at different pHs, temperatures and in mediums with different salinity are also studied. The results indicate that: when J2 is inoculated 1% into the medium, it can degrade the atrazine, whose concentration in the medium is 100mg/L, completely within 72h. When the medium is cultured at 30degC with a pH of 7, the growth and the degradation ability of J2 become best. When the salinity of the medium is increases, the growing and degrading abilities of J2 get worse gradually, this indicates that J2 can not endure high salinity.
