Abstract :
In this paper, a simplified space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) algorithm for a multi level inverter is proposed. This method is based on the usage of the adjacent vectors on a part time basis to satisfy the average output demand. In this method, the outer vectors are used for calculation while the inner vectors are ignored. This reduces the computation time so that the multi level inverter can be implemented using a Micro-controller itself. Simplified space vector pulse width modulation method is applied to three and five level inverters. The simulation results obtained from PSIM software are in accordance with the expectations.
