Abstract
Interferometric noise may present a significant problem in future, ring based, access networks which utilise wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and optical add-drop multiplexers (OADM) to select wavelength channels. We present simulation and experiment results which analyse the tolerance to wavelength offset for such a network and investigate how the bit error rate (BER) induced by the interferometric noise is affected by electrical filtering.
