Abstract :
Researchers at the Instytut Technologii Materialow Elektronicznych in Warsaw, Poland, have investigated the nature and behaviour of surface acoustic waves (SAW) in temperature compensated NdCa4O(BO3)3 (commonly abbreviated to NdCOB). They have shown that the compensation makes NdCOB a suitable material for sensing in harsh, high temperature conditions, such as those encountered in military operations.
