Abstract :
A new method for ranking fuzzy numbers based on the cut set is proposed, and some of its desirable properties are studied. Firstly, the area of a triangle, which is determined by the cut set of fuzzy numbers, is employed as the measure of cut set (interval). A index and algorithm of ranking fuzzy numbers are constructed using the integral of this measure. Particularly, for trapezoid fuzzy numbers and triangular fuzzy numbers, the calculation formulas for the indices are given. Finally, the numerical experimentation shows that this method is efficiency and reasonableness.
