Abstract :
This paper describes a method for using a high frequency direction finding (HFDF) system to detect noise and interference emissions that degrade HFDF system performance. Using a stepped-frequency data collection method, the authors present analysis from a 6-month dataset. The authors present measurements using other equipment that show the primary sources are from sources associated with mains distribution hardware. Using the HFDF system as a cooperative noise and interference detection sensor is an excellent first step toward identifying and mitigating the emitters causing HFDF system degradation.
