Abstract :
The Google Company released Google Earth (GE), a stand-alone program that combines three major Google services (satellite maps, local yellow pages, and a vast database of statistics) into a single interface which allows zoom to street-level details anywhere in the world. However, GE can only provide high quality geographic information service for limited parts on the earth. In order to enhance the quantity and quality of geographic information for GE users, an Online Geographic Information Service Platform (OGISP) based on GE is proposed in this paper. The architecture of OGISP is described in this study. Detailed implementation of OGISP is also explained. An application of OGISP shows that it can make every kind of developers add geographic information or web resources to GE freely. Thus, users can share geographic information and web resources after loading a plug-in component. The efficiency of OGISP has also been demonstrated in this paper.
