Abstract :
This paper presents a technique to measure and select the most suitable size of humeral head implant during preoperating planning phase in shoulder hemiarthroplasty surgery. The purpose of this work is to develop a standard methodology to be applied specifically in digital templating software for shoulder hemiarthroplasty surgery. The framework of the technique is described in this article to give an overview of the new technique. The technique proposed was applied in a new digital templating application named OrthoShoulder by using Visual C++ programming tool. The application developed has been tested by a few orthopedic surgeons and excellent responses were obtained.
