Abstract :
Installing the arc suppression coil (ASC) at the neutral point in the medium-voltage power network is widely applied in the distribution network in China. For the sake of adapting the operation demand of distribution network of various types and areas, many kinds of ASC with different design principle have appeared in the market of China. It is mainly comprised of the winding turns adjustable un-damped type ASC, the automatic winding turns adjusting damping type ASC, the automatic capacity-adjusting type ASC and the phase control type ASC etc. In order to compared the technique performance of ASC with different design principle. it is shown that the length of grounding arc path that the ASC can extinguished is closely related to its ability of extinct arc. The shorter the arc path may cause more difficulty in the extinguishing of the arc. Therefore, the length of grounding arc path that is extinct by the ASC is selected as a main technique index to compare the performance of ASC. Based on this given experimental index, the simulated medium-voltage electric network and experiment equipment is built in the laboratory. The distance of the electrode is adjusted to get the arc with different arc length. The single phase grounding test is done simulated under different turn-out degree and different arc length. The arc length extinct by different ASC under different turn-out degree and the time needed to extinct the arc are analysed statistically. The performances of extinct arc of different types of ASC are compared. The guidance opinions provide for the utilities to select the appropriate ASC is recommended.
