Application of in service setting of micro-processor based relays in China

To fully exploit the potentials of MPR relays, Xiamen Power Bureau of Fujian Province, China, has been working on in service remote setting for more than ten years. A large scale application has gained significant benefit of labor cost savings and operation security improvements. The supporting systems of in service setting for different kinds of substations are introduced. The technical and management measures to ensure the security of in service setting are presented. The communication protocols adapted to transmit in service setting data and messages are also described.
