  • Abstract
The procedure of development of electrical and topological models of libraries of new components in CAD system of Microwave Office is described. The features of construction of models are demonstrated on the examples of linear three-port network, nonlinear model of transistor, and layout cell of inductance coil for MMICs. In order to design efficiently MMICs, libraries of electrical and topological models of elements must be developed for certain MMIC technology and integrated in commercially available microwave circuit simulators such as Microwave Office (MWO) from AWR Company. The most powerful and universal approach for MWO library development is the use of Software Development Kit (SDK) and Model Wizard tools from AWR. Additionally, MS Visual Studio with C++ compiler is required. SDK allows developing of DLL libraries for the following Microwave Office parts: - linear models based on Y-parameter or netlist definition; - nonlinear models that are defined in two parts: definition of controlled current and charge sources; definition of an actual model including controlled sources and linear elements; - parameterized layout cells that use parameters of electrical models to render layout representation. A procedure for developing electrical and topological models for new components in CAD-system of Microwave Office is described. The features of development of models are demonstrated with the examples of linear three-port network, nonlinear model of transistor, and layout cell of inductance coil for MMICs.
