Abstract
The authors introduce an activity of a new working group under ISO/TC184/SC2 which is approved to formulate a new international safety standard ldquoRobots and robotic devices - Safety requirements - Non-medical personal care robotrdquo associated with robots that are allowed to coexist in human environments for the purpose of providing humans with various services. The standard includes risk assessment and risk elimination/reduction information for the design stage of personal care robots. The paper briefly delivers the points in the risk assessment and risk elimination/reduction processes, which have been discussed in the working group: Beginning with the scope, the main framework and roadmap of formulating the standard are also described.
