Abstract
Manufacturing systems are developing into a high-level system from about twenty years ago. Recently manufacturing systems equip with a network system, a highly controlled system and highly flexible software. Especially, automobile manufacturers implement new technologies to manufacturing system for making an innovation. In the meantime, a manufacturing system is more complexity, larger and more expensive. Therefore, establishment of standards for manufacturing system is required. ISO/TC184 (automation system and integration) was founded on 1982 in ISO (International Organization of Standardization). The ISO/TC184 is making over 200 standards during about 25 years; such as Robotics, CAD/CAM and Manufacturing system. In this paper, the needs of standardization for manufacturing system are described. And the activities and effects of the standardization are shown. Finally, the future trend is observed.
