  • Abstract
    A low cost, compact size staircase rectangular-slot antenna fed by a square patch is presented in this paper. This antenna has broad bandwidth between 2.5 - 5.0 GHz, low loss, and omnidirectional radiation pattern. The structure of this antenna is similar to the conventional rectangular-slot antenna but the staircases are added to the border of the rectangular-slot to increase its bandwidth performance. In addition, the square patch is fed inside the slot to improve its return loss. The propose antenna was implemented and measured for verification. Simulation and experimentation results show good agreement in impedance bandwidth, return loss, and radiation patterns.
