Abstract :
International Standardization Activities for Process Automation sectors such as in IEC TC65 are strongly supported and promoted by the Japanese public, several industry and academic organizations including JISC, IEC-APC, JEMIMA, NECA, JEMA and SICE. The Japanese industry group must recognize that the international standardization activities related to future ldquodigitally integrated automation architecturerdquo environments in the P A sectors are the strong vehicle for achieving global business growth. In this paper, the author would analyze the international standardization situation in PA sectors especially the current direction of IEC TC65: industrial process measurement, control and automation activities and make some suggestions for the future attitude and strategy of the Japanese industry group.
