Abstract :
We propose a low cost Hybrid CWDM/DWDM-TDM PON architecture which employs colorless modulator in ONT. We fabricated hybrid CWDM/DWDM-TDM-PON system. The performances were evaluated for the laser injected R-SOA based WDM-PON with the low water peak fiber (LWPF) of 20 km as feeder and 16 CWDM channels downstream 16 channels DWDM upstream with 1 times 8 power splitter. The proposed architecture has the advantages that the capital and OA&M expenses can be significantly reduced while maintaining excellent transmission performance for the cost-effective migration of the current broadband access network into NEXT FTTH using hybrid WDM/TDM-PON. Transmission characteristics of the proposed network were measured and the results are presented.
