  • Abstract
The MaxSegs algorithm has been distributed between a Cray Y-MP and a Thinking Machines CM-2 system at the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (PSC) to allow rapid and rigorous comparison of gene and protein sequences with large libraries of other sequences. This achieves a. speedup factor of 5 to 10 in elapsed time. Users intervene at critical points in the analysis through a control program running on a workstation.
