Abstract
Now there are many prediction models based on grey theory, however, the precision, adaptability and efficiency may be quietly different, so it is essential to choose a more suitable prediction model for the stability evaluation of tunnel surrounding rock-support system. In the paper, some typical grey prediction models were discussed and compared from aspects of precision, adaptability, computational workload. And a most efficient approach with smallest total error and better adaptability for non-equal interval sequence was found. Meanwhile, it was proved that the background value would be a vital factor in creating a grey model, and the prediction precision and adaptability of grey model can be highly improved through ameliorating background value.
