Abstract :
In recent years, as an important form of corporate social responsibility, the phenomenon of corporate donations comes forth rapidly. For the purpose of exploring characteristics of corporate donations, the research used data from 290 enterprises in Yangtze river delta of China involved in contribution between 2004 and 2006. Based on the factor analysis and descriptive statistics, the results are as follows: (1) the motive of corporate donations can be classified into three kinds: public welfare, short-term business interest and long-term mutual benefit; (2) the average annual amount of corporate donations takes on a trend of ¿the middle is high, while both sides are low¿; (3) the fields of corporate donations cover a wide range and are more related to the industry. Foreign enterprises generally are better than domestic ones in donation tactic.
