Abstract :
An experimental study on sulfur release and adsorption during coal partial gasification and combustion is conducted in a 1MW circulating fluidized bed (CFB) poly-generation system. Limestone is added to gasifier as a sorbent of sulfur produced, where part of the sorbent flowed through a bi-directional returning feeder into combustor and another part returned to gasifier. The results show that limestone desulfurization rates in gasifier exceed 50% even in low temperature. It can be concluded that limestone has longer resident time in poly-generation system than in individual combustor or gasifier and obtains higher reactivity of sulfur removal. The results also show that sorbent should be sent directly into combustor so as to get complete calcination and reduce waste of uncalcined limestone remained in gasifier at low temperature.
