Abstract :
The short-time Fourier transform (STFT), whose resolution depends on the window length, is the most frequently used time frequency representation to analyze signal with time-varying frequency content. The formula of calculating the optimal window length for sine modulated signal is deduced to make the maximal local bandwidth of the spectrogram reaches the minimal value. The results of some typical windows are calculated. Simulated results verify the correctness of the deduced formula.
