Abstract :
The gravity model and intensity model of urban flow was developed for analyzing spatial contacts in urban agglomerations. The paper analyzes the economic contacts of urban agglomeration between major cities in Jiangxi province and different regions in China. The study shows that the intensities of economic contacts of urban agglomeration between major cities in Jiangxi province and other regions in whole country are different greatly. The contacts between the 11 cities and Wuhan urban agglomeration, Yangtze urban agglomeration, Chang-Zhu-Tan urban agglomeration and Wanjiang urban agglomeration are more close and complicated than those of the west, the southwest and the east region. Meanwhile, the tendency and intensity of urban flows in Jiangxi province is misplaced, the economic capacity of main cities doesn´t match with their outward service abilities. Therefore, a more systematical and measurable quantitative analysis is needed in demonstrating economic contacts of urban agglomerations in different regions.
