Directions in Management Research: An Analysis of the Best Articles in Academy of Management Journal

This paper provides a content analysis of the inputs and outputs from the Academy of Management Journal during the period of 1986-2006. Twenty-one best articles are surveyed to identify the authors, discipline content and their analytical methods. Then the paper briefly points out four implications from the findings and for the future directions of Chinese management research. In the end, the article concludes with a call for more Chinese researchers to follow the mainstream research rules, to act local but think global, in order to conduct and publish Chinese management research into the global community of scientific research and practice.
