Abstract
Innovation value appropriation is one of the pressing issues annoying firms which are pursing open innovation. In this paper, we explain the underlying mechanism of innovation value creation and the drivers of value appropriation, building on the theory of strategic factor market and the recent bargaining perspective on resource advantages. After that, we explore how dynamic capabilities and specific technological innovation strategies interact to influence value appropriation in the context of open innovation.
