Abstract

Regional innovation systems are important parts of the national innovation system. Evaluation and comparison of the efficiency of regional innovation systems are very important to the healthy development of the national innovation system. This paper analyzes innovation efficiency of regional innovation system in China´ s 31 provinces and municipalities by utilizing DEA. Four important input indicators basing on statistical figures in 2006 and five output indicators basing on figures in 2007 are carefully selected. Results coming from calculations on the related DEA software are illustrated and analyzed concretely. Improvement suggestions are proposed to provinces and municipalities that are DEA inefficient. There is no necessarily relevance between DEA efficiency in different regions and the economic development level in those regions.
