Research and Practice of Kitchen Knives Set Design Based on Scenario-Oriented Design

This research introduces Scenario-Oriented Design into the design process of kitchen knives set and gives an analysis of usage persona and usage context centered about the user. Based on sufficient knowledge of the characteristic behaviors of consumers from different levels, we explore key factors of kitchen knives set design from consumers´ perspective. We use persona-based scenario to extract the character Xiao Wen´s specific requirements during the course of using kitchen knives set. The direction of designing adjustment is fixed by setting problem scenarios, concluding to critical issues and achieving assessments in concept scenarios. Finally, preliminary schemes carrying out the research theories come out through design practice. And it proves that the scenario-oriented design is an effective designing method.
