Abstract :
An electricity distribution network is a common market-place for consumers and small-scale power producers. The future market will be more or less a customer- and small-scale producer-driven market. This calls, for instance, for intelligent demand response actions based on market price, energy saving, and efficiency goals. The success of the electricity market is strongly dependent on the management of the electricity distribution business. These processes involve new business models, organisational structures and administrative routines as well as new technical solutions for customer gateway, automatic meter management systems and commercial IT system tools.
