  • Abstract
Stable Mono-Filamentary Dielectric Barrier Discharges (MF-DBD) were achieved between two identical insulated electrodes separated by 2 mm gap containing pure krypton (100-500 Torr). A sinusoidal supply voltage operating between 10 and 50 kHz, was used and the electrical characteristics of the DBD were studied. For the purpose, the calculation techniques previously used to study pure Ar and Xe MFDBDs was improved by including numerical filtering of the discharge current in its ignition and extinction phases, and by accounting for stray capacitors, in order to deduce the timedependent discharge current and voltage. The gap and the dielectrics are represented by constant capacitors whereas the discharge itself is represented by a non-linear dissipative current source. The results show that the discharge´s current and voltage waveforms are similar in our pressure and working frequency ranges. They differ only for peak current and voltage, current rise-time, fall-time and duration, ignition and extinction voltages as well as input electrical power, energy and charge. The pressure and frequency dependence of these electrical quantities are discussed.
