Abstract :
Decomposition of two textile dyes (Direct Blue 106 and Direct Red 79) in water solutions containing supported electrolyte (NaCl, NaNO3 or Na3PO4) by DC diaphragm discharge and by pure electrolysis was observed in both electrode spaces of the reactor. The removal was much intensive in the anode space, up to 60 % after 40 minutes of the treatment. Higher contribution of electrochemical processes was observed in DB106 solution. Further, NaCl was determined as the most effective electrolyte for the dye removal. Significant stimulation effect of acidic pH value for the dye decomposition was proposed as well.
