Abstract :
Vacuum ultraviolet emissions of krypton were investigated at room temperature. Two-photon selective excitation of 5s configuration atomic or molecular states allowed us to compare the temporal behaviours of the VUV luminescence following selective populating of the resonant state Kr(3P1) or selective populating of the metastable state Kr(3P2). A spectroscopic and kinetic analysis of the VUV emission was performed for the first time comparing the temporal dependence of the radiation characteristics consecutive to initially populating either the resonant or the mestastable state. A kinetic scheme showing the main reaction processes is proposed.
