  • Abstract
It is generally assumed that copper rotor bars can outstand aluminium rotor bars in terms of better performance in losses reduction or money saving. This paper presents the comparison of the aluminium rotor bar and copper rotor bars designed by using FEM software to simulate the 0.5HP AC induction motor. The 0.5HP three phase induction motor is compared in terms of plot magnetic potential lines, eddy current density, magnetic flux density and lastly magnetic field strength. Analysis shows that the copper rotor bars have good performance in all the area that was investigated and thus lower the losses especially core and copper loss in the induction motor.
