Abstract :
The performance of an OFDM based Radio-over-fiber (RoF) transmission system in the presence of simultaneous effects of Statistical fading at the wireless interface and optical non-linearities at the fiber transmission path has been investigated. Our investigation shows that BER performance of the OFDM-RoF system is severely degraded in the presence of joint effects of fading and optical non-linearities. The analysis also reveals that accurate estimation of BER performance of the system requires consideration of interplay of the effects of fading and optical non-linearities compared to the situation where only either statistical fading or fiber non-linearities are considered.
