Abstract
We present new model studies of sea surface emissivity at L-band. To describe a wind-driven sea surface, we employ dimensionless variables associated with wave spectrum, fetch, and whitecapping. Microwave emission contributions from different environmental factors - roughness, foam/whitecap, subsurface bubbles, spray, and their connectivity are the main elements in our model. We first compute dependencies of emissivity on wind fetch using spectral and self-similar solutions. The microwave model suggested has shown good agreement with available experimental data.
