Abstract :
A pulsed transmitter operating in frequency of C-band has been designed and installed for use in ground station application. The transmitter has a peak pulse power of 1MW with pulse rise time < 1¿s. Though the transmitter after installation functioned properly, it resulted in electromagnetic interference to the nearby sensitive receiving systems, intercoms etc. This paper discusses the EMC design modifications implemented in the C-band transmitter to reduce / suppress the electromagnetic noise generated by it. Different EMI control measures taken to solve the EMI problems like change of grounding scheme, cable shield grounding, isolation of HV & LV ground, etc., are presented in detail in this paper.
