Abstract
Non-status reporting (NSR) ONUs underutilize link capacity, since they do not inform queue occupancy to the optical line terminal (OLT) as well as traffics in access network are bursty. We suggest a dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) method to support NSR optical network units (ONUs) and to improve link utilization based on the Full Service Access Network (FSAN)-compliant gigabit passive optical network (GPON). Also, we simulate it to show how inevitable underutilization can be reduced through the proposed DBA method.
