In this article, course study and reform on teaching The Principles of Database System is demonstrated from three aspects: class teaching, experimental teaching, and course design. Class teaching is enhanced by considering integration of course content, flexibility and inspiration in teaching style, motivation derived from problem solving and case study. For experimental teaching, the article puts forward a concept that more fundamental experiments should be adopted and integrative experiments should be few but well developed in the sense of emphasis in importance of teacher´s guidance. In course design, consideration should be taken in place in independent study, collaboration and study evaluation. It is necessary to select proper theme for the course, and be aware of overlapping and merging relevant courses. In practice, reform in teaching results obviously improvement in motivation, practical ability and knowledge understanding.
