Abstract :
Nonlinearity remains a limiting factor in optical data transmission due to demand in high bit rate high spectral efficiency transmission. Dispersion management is still an effective mitigation method. PM-QPSK with coherent Rx improves Rx sensitivity and has good nonlinear tolerance. It is still beneficial to have optimized FEC overhead. Access to the signal optical fields allows for DSP nonlinearity compensation. Compensation schemes are dependent on the dispersion in the transmission path. Experimental results has shown 1dB or less performance improvement -SPM compensation.
