Abstract
Complexity estimation is an essential task in the design process of real time systems. It is the primary driving force behind such important design decisions such as algorithm and architecture selection, design partitioning and architectural composition. This paper will present a set of techniques to efficiently estimate accurate minimum and maximum implementation bounds on the implementation cost of an application specific integrated circuit. The applications of the proposed techniques in a number of design synthesis areas will be discussed.
