Abstract :
The introduction of High-Definition TV (HDTV) will have a huge impact on semiconductor and TV set manufacturing industries. European industries like Philips started developments for HDMAC many years ago. Further industrialization of the chip-sets and TV receivers has already started and will lead to introduction of products on the consumer market in 1994. This paper highlights the various aspects that influence development and manufacture of ICs for the consumer HDTV market. It also describes the state-of-the-art of tools and processes.
