Abstract
A 32-bit microprocessor will be described which combines the advantages of a general purpose RISC architecture and a fast DSP unit. It will be shown, that the integration of a DSP unit into a RISC architecture using parallelism and efficient sharing of resources enables fast execution of DSP algorithms with the speed advantage of RISC architectures.
